Scraps Set Free

Thanks to Karen for her Scraps Set Free class. Her creative skills showed us how all kinds of scraps, including those pesky orphan blocks, can be tied together into a beautiful work of art.

There are few rules to the process, although Karen explained the reasons behind the rules. No orphan blocks in the first row, at least one of the planned blocks in each row in order for the eye to rest, and large blocks at the bottom.

Everyone brought their bins of scraps and fabric. Talk about sharing – and look at all that was available to anyone for their choosing.

Aside from the things we actually learn in the class there are so many tips and tricks being circulated around the room. And the stories … Like the time Cathy K used a unique piece of backing on one of her wall hangings. It was also revealed that although Karen doesn’t order her wine by the truckload (as Maria tried to make us believe) she does order it in cases (as in several cases at a time).
