Slugs, snail, ants – and how to get rid of them

It was a much smaller crowd at the clubhouse today. The weather went downhill overnight so there was no gardening to get done, but gardening was still very much the topic of conversation.

We all had different methods for getting rid of slugs – eggshells on the ground, stomping on them, slicing them with the shovel – but Rene swears by her system. She uses prongs (from the $ store) to pick them up, she puts them in a tomato tin full of salt, and sends them on their way. Barb K gets rid of her snails by picking them up (also with prongs) and flinging them back into the bush. Darlene gets rid of her ant infestation using an ounce of vodka mixed with water in a spray bottle; kills them instantly!

As of next week, Sandra J is started a new embroidery group. The first session will be Monday at Sandra’s home (see the membership list for the address), starting at 11 AM. Bring some hand stitching and your lunch. This will be a weekly event but the location may switch from week to week. All are welcome.
