A hive of activity

We had a wonderful turnout at the sewing bee today with many stitchers and visitors. We appreciate the visitors even if they just pop in to say hello. Rene brought her friend Grace along and she joined in to stitch our September project. Barb McCormack and Barb Kuntsi brought along their friend Sharon. Sharon just happens to be Sharon Pederson of Rose of Sharon fame.

Sometime during the summer the Tuesday group decided we should all work on a group project one day a month. Because Barb McCormack is the queen of wall hangings (and a lot of other things) she volunteered we volunteered her to come up with the project and supply list. She didn’t disappoint today and came with three different options for us to make. There were a lot of pumpkins, black cats and spiders in the room by lunch time. I had to leave early, but I expect there were a lot of finished projects by the end of the day.

We are going to do this group project on the third Tuesday of each month. The next one will be October 16th. We don’t know yet what the pattern will be, but Barb said to bring fall colours. She also challenged each of us to bring a gluten-free dish for a potluck lunch

Quilt Across Canada Challenge (63,360 inches = 1 mile)

Last week’s total, by my calculation, was 2,463 inches. If you reported measurements of your completed project to Nina they won’t be included in this update. After all the wall hangings that were done today I expect we’ll be past the 3,000 inch mark in no time! Rene finished off her table toppers at 132”.

Our new total is 2,595 inches

The Tuesday Sandwich Board

It was such fun to all be working on a similar project today. Please join us next time.

The hangings can be any size, as long as they fit on a standard door. Adding a sleeve to the back will help with their placement. Don’t forget a label on the back so your work is acknowledged.
