I had such fun at our Guild wind-up party tonight. There were about 40 folks in attendance and there was lots of laughter. And the food was so good – as it always is at these events.
After we had our fill of the delicious appies and dessert our Challenge projects were shown. Helen Anderson initiated the Challenge this year and asked us to make something to remind us of a favorite summer memory. There were some beautiful pieces – night skies, birds, butterflies, sunflowers and the cutest little basket filled with coasters. All the projects incorporated the material that Helen supplied in our brown paper bags.
There were a number of Cookie Tin Exchange pieces on display – all were very cleverly put together. I know mine will be a lovely reminder of all the friends I have made in the Guild, whether or not they did a block for my wall hanging.
There were still a lot of pieces left for Show and Tell – our members are busy people! Barb McCormack showed us some of the items she worked on in Halifax at CQA. I suspect she has many more stories to share and, as always, we’ll be calling on her expertise in the new techniques she has learned.
There were a whopping 31 quilts donated to the Community Quilts project. There were enough quilts, when displayed, to make a circle all the way around the room.
There was a lovely table of door prizes to hand out at the end of the evening. Thanks to everyone who donated to the table.
