Our next community quilt bee is the week-end of march 31st and April 1st.
Our ususal routine is loose , where you’re free to come and go as you wish. There’s sandwiching of tops with batting and backing. There’s assembly of tops with ideas you’ve brought from home or from inspiration in the jumble boxes.
This time , we thought you may like some guidance and suggest that you may wish to bring your 2.5 inch strips and 5″ squares.
Here’s a few ideas to give you a headstart, but you may have already planned to try the latest design in your new magazine or book received for Christmas.
#1. Half Square triangles made from any size square works well.
#2 5 inch squares with a strip sewn on 2 sides , then twist and turn the blocks in your layout. This one is by Wanda Hansen. Her blog is Exuberant Color.com
and this next one is something I just completed with 5 inch squares and 2.5 inch strips. Must now find a border that complements it all.
# 3 A simple pinwheel with 2.5 inch strips is the quilt on the right.
and the simple 2 bar rail fence on the left is fun.
# 4. Have you done a Disappearing Nine Patch? Try it with any size square. Here’s one that I did in blues and creams below.
