Hope all of you are able to enjoy these last few days of perfect fall weather.
GREAT NEWS! Myrt has completed our guild website update. Please go and check it out here. The website is for visitors from around the internet, new folks to our community and quilters looking for information about the quilting scene in powell river. We hope to have lots more photos in the photo gallery.
I have received notices of upcoming shows from the Comox Valley quilters and the Sunshine Coast quilters. Go to the quilt show page and mark those dates on your calendar. These are great reasons in May and July to take a cruise on a ferry.
Lainey sent her supply list for the Mariner’s Star and it was posted 2 weeks ago on the class supply page. Lainey’s class will be an all day workshop on Sat Nov 6th.
Cecelia and Carol will co-teach a technique useing a 60 degree equilateral triangle at the November demo night. There’s nothing difficult in working with this different triangle and the results are neat. You may wish to do a baby quilt in coordinated fabrics or strips cut from your scrap bin in lights and darks.
Cecelia and Carol will guide you through a easy pattern called Wee Spin ( designer American Jane Co) It uses a jelly roll or any of your 2.5 ” strips for a scrappy look. Size when finished will be 52″ X 41″. This can also be a lap/couch quilt in more adult colours. Come and see what can be done with a 6 sided hexagon.
For the November business meeting, remember your fat quarter for the draw, your cat block for the block draw and your $$ for classes or the 50/50 draw.
